Tactical behavior of male setters in first-level cuban volleyball in the 2022 national tournament

Abstract

The objective of this research is to assess the behavior of the tactical thinking of Cuban setters in the First Category national competition. This was motivated by insufficiencies observed in the male setters in conducting the game, during the fulfillment of the tactical objectives. The type of study used to carry it out was qualitative descriptive. The sample consisted of the 16 passers of the 8 participating teams in the National Men's Volleyball First Category event held in Sancti Spiritus in 2022. We used theoretical methods: analytical-synthetic and inductive-deductive and empirical methods: analysis of document and observation technique. For the analysis of the results, an observation guide was used first, which allowed us to record the necessary data for the investigation. Once all the quantitative data was recorded, they were grouped into tables to later make a qualitative analysis of them and thus be able to reach various conclusions. The analysis of the results allowed us to verify that there are deficiencies in the tactical behavior of our passers. Mainly, problems can be observed with the selection and distribution of the pass and that there is a marked  tendency towards attacking play by wingers, using first-half and combination passes to a much  lesser extent.
